Though I didn’t think I would post in here again, I have changed my mind. I’m wiling away a bit of time waiting in the Guayaquil airport for my return to Cuenca. 10 airports and 16 days later… It had been over 5 years since the last time I was in the US.
I know, I know…I don’t write here anymore. No time, no inclination, no entries. Facebook is something relatively new for me.
I used to have to write, went a bit crazy if I didn?t. I?
My visit here in the States is winding down and I?ve been doing a lot of shopping to try to get everything on my list. It has been a little overwhelming, being a full-throttle consumer again.
Christina and I are currently visiting my mom in Oregon and during this trip many people have been asking me about Ecuadorian food. For most Ecuadorians lunch and dinner are not complete without a first course of "sopita" (soup).
An interesting tourist site here in Loja is La Puerta de la Ciudad (The City Gate). It is located just north of the main plaza at the confluence of the Malacatos and Zamora Rivers (the two rivers that run through the city). The monument itself is modeled after the City of Loja?
One rainy day we were driving to Malacatos and we found ourselves behind this truck: If you look carefully and squint your eyes you might be able to make out something written on the back of the truck. Here is what it says: ?SI DIOS QUIERE, VOLVERE?
(I meant to post this about a week ago but our internet connection hasn?t been very reliable lately. Today I lugged my laptop up to the university so I could use their free wi-fi connection.
Just east of downtown Loja there is an interesting monument: The acronym E.E.R.
