Sunday 28th March 2010 no trip to Bali would seem to be complete without a trip to the now-famous Bu Oka's Warung in Ubud. made famous by that most adventurous of food gurus - anthony bourdain, the warung sells only babi guling or in english, suckling pig. the dish comes with an interesting array of bits and bobs of the pig and some vegetables.

Saturday 27th March 2010 ok so if you really want to have a good time at the Bali Safari and Marine Park, don't bring 125 children from the school you work at for a field trip! apart from that, this is a lovely surprise attraction located in Gianyar about an hour away from Kuta. the Park is well maintained, the staff are considerate, welcoming and happy to help.
this is where the real 'wild things' are...

Thursday 3rd December 2009a shadow, something indeed so intangible. we remember when we were younger chasing our shadows around the garden and using our hands to create the shadows of animals on our bedroom walls. in those times of such innocence we are shielded from the shadows we later learn about.
how sweet it is...
Tuesday 1st December 2009 palm sugar is the most wondrous of substances. whenever i see it like this piled high in market baskets i have this overwhelming urge to just pick up a piece and take a gigantic bite out of it. of course, this would not be the wisest thing to do because it would be insanely sweet, but it just has this bite-able look to it and it also reminds me of chocolate.
